DURAMEDIA® XC is an aluminum oxide based ceramic media containing a greater concentration of coarser grade aluminum oxide and is known for its fast cutting capability. DURAMEDIA® XC is excellent for removal of heavy burrs, flash, or scale. It has good cutting ability for heat treated steels, teflon products, and nickel-bronze castings.  A primary consideration for this formula would be applications for gear finishing.
